Tarik Berber
Tarik Berber was born on 12.07.1980 in Banja Luka, Bosnia and Herzegovina. In 1991 he moved with his family to Bolzano, attended the Torricelli High School, after which he attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence, a painting course with Prof. Adriano Bimbi. Already in the second year he began working with the prestigious Florentine art gallery Poggiali e Forconi, which took him to all the main Italian art fairs.
In 2004 he is the youngest artist to be invited to exhibit at the inauguration of MACI (Isernia Contemporary Art Museum,) in the same year he participates in the Second InTranSito Biennial, Castel Sant’Angelo National Museum, Rome, then in Sassoferrato at the Review International Art FairSalvi-Aperture-, curated by Mauro Corradini and then at the second International Art Exhibition Citta ‘di Bozzolo, Don Primo Mazzolari, where he won the first purchase prize. In May 2006 he has his first personal exhibition at the Museum National Villa Pisani, Strà, Venice.
In 2007 he moved to Berlin, but after a year and a half he returned to Italy. From 2012 to 2015, he exhibited two hand-drawn video animations that attract the attention of the BBC, InsideArt and Vimeo Staff Picks with more than 60,000 views.
In the summer of 2015 he was invited for a series of four solo exhibitions in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Slovenia: in Maribor at the ARMAMAXA gallery, at the City Gallery of Bihac, National Gallery of Sarajevo and at the G&M Gallery in Tuzla. In this period he gave the project of a children’s book to the orphanage of Kulen Vakuf (BiH) which prints and distributes it.
Towards the end of 2015 he began working with the prestigious Albemarle Gallery in London (Mayfair) at this time he met Edward Lucie-Smith, a famous English art historian and critic, who interviewed him and wrote a text about him for the catalog of exhibition at Art Moor House, a skyscraper built by the archistar Lord Norman Foster, in the City of London.
In 2016 he is the finalist of the Ibero-American Art Award Exhibition at the Embassy of Brazil, London.
In 2017 he was invited to create a 80m2 installation for the Piazza dei Tre Re within the “Estate Fiorentina”.
The same year he exhibited his solo show TOXIC CADMIUM at the Aria Art Gallery in Florence.
The same gallery exhibits his works at “CI” – Contemporary Istanbul Art Fair 2017. In 2018 he begins the collaboration with the VSArte Gallery of Milan (Brera), and in July of the same year he exhibited the solo show Windsor Beauties at Aria Art Gallery Istanbul.
In January 2020 the Maimeri Foundation hosted the retrospective “Seven Sisters” curated by Andrea Dusio in collaboration with Arte.it.
